OFFLINE

Hi All,
My names Stu and I'm from the Worthing area. I've been lurking here for a while and finally decided it was about time to say hello ! Smile

Bit of background to start with. I'm a complusive car fiddler and speed junky and have been tuning cars and bikes for many years now. Started off when I was 16 with a 998cc Mini followed quickly by a 1293 Mini and then I crossed over to rear wheel drive cars with a Manta GTE in 1989. After several engine blow ups I turned to the dark side (reliable side ?) in 1996 with a Nissan 200SX RS13 which I fettled over a number of years culminating in a 400bhp RB25 conversion back in 2003. The car made it into Japanese Performance in January 2005 which made it worth all the effort.

The car was great fun to drive but got bored (as you do) and needed more power and so bought a RB30 block for it. Eventually decided that I needed 4wd to deploy the power I as aiming for and started looking around for a cheapey R32GTR late last year as prices were dropping and starting to get within my budget. Finally found and bought one in February this year. The car was almost standard apart from the wheels, exhaust and the front brakes which had been upgraded with R33 GTR Brembos.

I put a deposit down on it but when I tried to tax it I found out that it was actually a Northern Ireland car and I had to get it UK registered. It was a bit of a bow wow to be honest which was why it was so cheap. The paintwork was shabby but in the fairly rare dark pearl blue colour. It also had a few running problems and barely made it the 120 miles home. I replaced the battery, fuel pump and a dodgy ECU chip and it now runs fine thankfully.
The car is primarily going to be used as a road car but I also wanted to use it on trackdays too and make it a bit more focused than the 200SX was so in the last few months I've been concentrating on sorting the interior out and have fitted a 7 point rollcage with door bars. The diagonal bar rear mount got in the way of the back seat so I've junked it and carpeted the rear of the car to keep it neat and quiet still.
I've also fitted race seats on my own custom subframes to get them sitting nice and low. Changed the steering wheel and gearknob for 'sportier' items off the 200 too. Only a little thing but makes it feel nicer to drive.

Suspension-wise I've plumped for Tein Monoflex's with EDFC and the cars also gained Toyo R888's. Still need to fit some Whiteline anti-roll bars and adjustable arms to correct the camber/caster but it seems to handle very well now. Also replaced the HICAS rear wheel steering with a locking bar which has made it much more predictable. The car generally feels much more solid and taut than the 200SX did but then the 200SX had covered 160,000 miles in total and 113,000 of those miles were with me thrashing it mercilessley so I dare say the shell was getting pretty tired !

The engine is fairly standard at the moment. It has a HKS Super Drager exhaust system on it and I'm hoping to replace the standard front pipes with some custom twin 3" into single 4" downpipes from PTS in the next few weeks. I 've also got a boost controller and GReddy E-manage to go on and also an oil cooler so it should be up to around 400bhp when its mapped and safe for a few trackdays untill I can get the RB30 built for it.

Anyway, enough of this babble, heres a few pictures of the old dobber !

PS. If anyone knows of a bodyshop that can do me a decent windows out paint job for a reasonable price then please let me know Smile

Cheers

Stu

Thanks for the comments fellas Smile

subyea81 - I'll get in touch with skylinecol, thanks Thumbs Up!

al - the cage is from Autosaurus and its made by KTS. Its surprisingly well made and fits very well for a budget cage. Its a similar design to the Cusco dash-dodger cages. I've added OMP universal door bars to it and mounted them quite low so its easy to get in and out still.

AdamR - Yes, its thanks to you that I'm here Smile

Thanks mate. I'm afraid the front seats have gone already, I was amazed how sought after they seem to be. Still have the rear seat for sale but I'd imagine it was the fronts that you were after ?
