I'm sure there a totally diffrent engine

K20a = JDM TypeR
K20a2 = UK TypeR
K20a3 =USA Si

i dont think the type S even has a 160bhp k20a3 Sad

the type s does have the k20a3, but it's not just "restricted", it's very different to the lump in the type r. the block/head/valves are the same but nearly everything else is different including all of the internals. the k20a has much higher compression, a completely different header with larger primaries, the vtec systems are completely different - the secondary inlet valves shift timing at 2300rpm on the k20a3, whereas the k20 has proper vtec at 6000rpm....the list goes on. 200bhp is easily reachable from the type s but it's not just a case of derestricting it

i reckon full service upgrade then upgrade standard piping to the box ram air style. Upgrade panel filter, upgrade injectors.
Manifolds on most Hondas very restrictive full system wouldn’t go a miss then maybe a hondata p100 tuned. You will feel the difference will bring out the ture power of the car. maybe not reach your target but tbh you should be aiming for toque as my civic only has power arfter 4500 rpm and mines not vtec its just the way its mapped and last cam coming on properly.

you prob know all this but im a bit of a honda head always have bin.
its not overall power but power to weight

cant imagine an air box making any difference power wise, best you can hope for is induction noise imo.

n/a tuning is pretty much a waste of money, just buy a car with the engine you want in the first place, or choose an engine that will respond well to forced induction added.

lol at above n/a tuning can be very effective boosted tuning is much easier so a agree. but running modified airbox and high flow filter on some cars such as Honda you can defiantly get a difference.

just stick a good induction kit on it like aem , itg , groupe m etc , there a couple of hundred + and might make a difference on yours but does make a bit of difference on the type r (about 10bhp)

but like adam said if you want more buy a car with the right engine in as you will need to spend a fortune on a n/a car to get more power thats why my type r is staying as is (induction+exhaust) i could get a manifold , downpipe decat , remap and vtec controller but it will be just to loud and to expensive for a small power gain ! + i cant be arsed to spend spend spend !

if and when i get bored with the honda i will go and buy a turbo again - evo,scooby etc

if i were you i would upgrade the handling - antiroll bars , strut braces etc etc as you can really chuck the hondas about Driving

agreed with scooby

handling is the way forward lots of mods out there to suit im running jdm integra shocks and soon h and r springs full set up only cost me 200 then theres rear anti roll bars the one used in civic usually sheti im upgrading to itr again, then brakes also important Smile
itg , groupe m are very good the air box idea is a cheaper way of doing it. its not the all out power but the power to weight can easily get 180 bhp but if u can drop the cars weight down un sprung weight is very important.
