Hrm had a quick look at his garage for the car. Probably not my cup of tea as it has had work done. Im really after something thats pretty standard. Half the fun for me is doing stuff to the car yourself. Yes im picky. lol!
However if the price is right ... !
Any idea what he is selling it for?

I did the same almost exactly a year ago in my 328i sport. I had had things sideways before but on purpose or when expecting it. Coming off a roundabout on the A27, just before the vauxhall garage going east, back end came out sent me down the bank and spinning into fence and trees. The weird thing is didnt happen on the roundabout exit, happened about 200m down and the back end suddenly stepped out. Anyway wasnt total write but too expensive to repair, only TPFT = about 5k loss .
I know drive an impreza (may have been picked for awd lol)
Know how you feel mate, its gutting.

hello
well im 100% intrested and will be callign tomoz to see how much and if i can get my brother on hand to loan me some of the cash if no one else is involved. i think if we got some main share holders paying equal amounts and contracts that they have to pay even if theres a fall out buisniss isnt always with friends.
step 2 would be renting it out to others on here thats do not own it, they will have to sign waver forms use there own tools unless asking other share holder if they can borrow theres have a log in and log out book. were theres a will theres away. the renting cash will be devided between share holderd or put towards keeping the keep of the garage.
this as a base idea |

well, it probably has been mentioned before at some point, but adzgtr and me have been having a bit of a banter about a workshop, me, him and a handfull of others are interested in having a shared garage for private use by inputters only, so its our garage, anyone else be interested in somin like this?
no, my barns are not an option, they are full of beep and falling apart, and not really gonna be looked upon by the planning lot nicely to turn it into a garage workshop or two! |

Thanks, they are actually the place that the last garage i went to sub contract work to.
Would they remove and refit the box?
I've also spoken to Peter at P&R gearboxes in Crawley and he seemed like a top bloke, spoke to me for about 20mins about it even though they dont remove/refit the gearboxes and thus he wouldnt be getting business directly out of me.
I'll make some phone calls tomorrow. Does anyone know what the going rate its to just remove and refit a gearbox?
Alternatively, has anyone actually done this themselves? I'm not afraid of a spanner but don't really want to get out of my depth. Any common problems or special tools needed?
Thanks for your ongoing help with this guys. |

Hi guys,
Was just wondering as to whether you guys know any reputable garages that take on any gearbox work?
I've been passed on a few times now as I believe no one wants the work as most garages outsource the gearbox work to specialist gearbox companies during which they have a gearbox-less car in the garage taking up space that could be used for easier repairs.
I think the synchro's in my gearbox have gone, due to it being difficult to engage gears 3,4,and 5, and sometimes getting some crunching if i push the gear through.
Basically, i'm a ballpark figure for a proper diagnosis, removing and refitting the box, and rebuilding the box if necessary.
The car is a 1999 Civic VTI-S 5dr, using a retrofitted Integra type R gearbox (which mates to this engine fine as it is a b series block).
A donor box is not an option unless it is a post 1998 S80 integra type r gearbox as i want to retain these gear ratios.
I'm located in Shoreham, but will travel anywhere in sussex/su ... |

Just wondered if anyone can recommend a garage that does 4 wheel alignment preferably in the Brighton area? Ive heard that some garages do laser alignment and give you a print out of before an after, not that this is actually needed. Just want a garage that can adjust my tracking so the car actually drives straight
Thanks

please dont use underseal! lol
nasty stuff, cracks and then rust gets in behind, waxoil it if you can, might be able to do it for you for a small price, as can get easy access to steamcleaner and ramps
as for the rust, ive got some industrial sized portions of that rust convertor stuff lol
i did mine last year, will be doin it next month
the only thing is when you do under a whole car, you need to ideally steam clean it off, and garage it to dry for a week (god knows how im gonna manage that this year! LMAO!) and then get it up and hit it with the stuff |

aint going there for retest anyway, even if free, but no its 20 quid retest!
You sure I'm fairly certain theres a legality thing which means re-tests are free? (Having had 2 cars this year fail on 1st attempt, I only ever paid for 1 test each....)
the retest only has to be free if the vehicle stays on the premises of the testing garage between original test and retest, and the testing garage carries out the necessary repairs
... Within 10 working days. |

Nice!!
Anything you ever need doing to it (assuming you don't want to do it yourself that is) theres a garage called TVR fix in Epsom who are spot on. My old man swears by them and they're not too expensive either. |
