I'd be happy to make some stickies in the garage chat section for now, if there's enough demand for it, a seperate forum is possible.
We've had a few forums before for various things, but they didnt get used much so ended up merged |

| At the bottom of each page it tells you certain thing you can/cannot do on the forum. Mine says I can edit my posts but there is no option for me to do this. How can I change a spelling mistake for example? |

I'm adding in a "karma" system to SJC, which is based on a points system.
You can gain or lose points for posting, starting threads, replies posted to your threads, time spent on forum, forums you post in, how often you post, how many smilies you use, how long your posts are, how many links you post, how many questions you ask... and lots more.
The formula wont be revealed, and will change as time goes on and I refine it.
It's meant as a bit of fun, nothing else, so please dont take it seriously
If you have any ideas for additional things to calculate, or perhaps reqards for gaining a certain amount of points, post them here |

OK, this can now be found under the "forum" menu up top.
This will be a paid member only feature once I'm happy with it |

Not a bad idea. Is it always better to have as many people as possible on a forum though? IMO the larger it gets the more unsociable it gets and members tend to 'group' rather then all mix in together.
Totally agree, so far it's all been word of mouth, and an initial spam. I would say approx 25-30% of the userbase have actually been to a monday meet, and in alot of cases thats why they joined up here. I think it's great because you can get to know alot of faces which is pretty unusual imo on most car forums/clubs. |

You might of noticed, at the top of a forum are a list of 10 words.
You can click these and it'll perform a search for that word in the given forum.
The list of words is made up from the posts in that forum, with the most frequent being selected.
The list is updated every day, some interesting words turn up |

Rightio
I've renamed the "car links" forum for now, as it was pretty dormant.
Will tidy it up over time, but if anyone wants to post some tech info, feel free I'll do some later today aswell
Threads wont be locked though, but they will be moderated so as to ensure the first post in the thread is up to date.

Hopefully this isn't out of turn!
When I joined I deleted the validation email by mistake and couldn't get any contact details for admin to sort it out!
Luckily I know someone else who uses the site else I would have had to create a new email to re-register to get in!
You might want to make your admin contact details a little more public as this was a bit of a problem for me, you can't see any details if you're not registered on the forum |

After careful consideration, we've decided to ditch sig images altogether.
Several reasons for it, such as not wanting the forum to look "cruisy", and also we think they get in the way, and do not really serve a purpose.
Cheers,
The SJC team

After sams cracking post at silly oclock why dont we clean it up and move it into a "how to / hints and tips" sort of section,
would be a place for us too share any good tips or procedures we've picked up through the years, (some more than others )
people can add various write ups on jobs which are the same or similar whatever model of car you have such as fitting a turbo timer, boost gauge etc etc.
they could also add other hints and tips like lagging intercooler pipes and oil filters to prevent heat soak or certain materials for making cold air boxes and feeds, you know the kinda things i mean, just cheap effective info that may benefit others,
would sort of make the club a place for info and abit more than just forum boards |

ok here's what tengoku-racing do. might give you an idea or 2
there are 2 types of membershiip, normal membeship & paid membership. it's £12 a year running from april to april but most members actually contibuted more than that off their own backs. all members can have & display a signature & avatar if they wish. all funds are accounted for & recorded & any member can ask to see these records if they so wish. the money is put into a club account & the club is registered as a non profit making organisation.
paid members do get some advantages, access to "member only" areas on the forum, first refusal on club stands, although if there is enough intrest then non payed members can show with the club & there is a "members discounts" section where the club has organised a discount scheme for various parts & tuning companies for paid members.
the club funds go towards the club marquee, banner, genrator & other items that help promot ... |
