Fitted an HKS replica one to my car today. It makes a noise but not what i expected, it sort of chatters rather than the traditional Psssssst! Is this ok? Cheers! Thumbs Up!

thats waste gate chatter because the dump valves not working which is making the turbo stop suddenly which is not good for it!

no that isnt good for it. STOP dont kill your poor turbo. The real HKS ones are expensive but they do work really well.

if your turbo has steel blades, it wont cause much of a problem, you're basically stalling the wheels. If you have ceramic blades then it wont last too long, although it'll depend on what boost you're running etc.

never heard that noise from one before ? they either woosh or like the hks they whistle (like noise on fast furious films) . yours sounds like wastegate chatter after an induction kit has been fitted ! those cheap copy ones have been known to mess up turbos and not last long as ive read on scooby/skyline forums ! i would get rid of it asap before you do damage

thats turbo stall your hearing if you dont have an external wastegate which it not good at at sounds great tho you'll hear it on most s13's with induction kits

eventually the blades will grind fine filings from the outer wall which slowly end up in the the block sawing away at your bigends etc(s13's are notorious for chocolate bearings this is why) so either get a recirc adaptor or clean the sump once a month

the price of the bov wont change the fact its stalling just tighten the spring with the 10mm bolt on the back of the bov you got to make it shut faster i run a hks fake and have no problem it shuts just as fast as the real thing only difference is that its not set up for any specific car unlike the hks one which the load is already set

it sounds like its not dumping properly... can you get a good pssshhhht as well as the chatter?

Mine makes a similar sound, but only if i lift off at about half boost.

If you hit full boost and lift off you should get a proper whoosh noise no?
